Despatch

The despatch team consists of 5 members of staff, which increased up to 10 during the busiest times of the year.  The peak period of the year is between June and September, when we can send up to 6 lorry loads of plants out each week.

On average, a Danish trolley will take 500 liners and the majority of lorries we use can take 21 trolleys per load (10,500 liners). Whilst most of our customers will accept their orders on trolleys, we are still able to supply our smaller customers with their orders in boxes, and have some customers who prefer to collect their orders in person.  Some of the local customers we can arrange to deliver to in our van.

The liners are now being produced in a P9 pot, which makes them easier to pick as they have more air around each plant, enabling them to get more air / less disease.  They also grow more uniformly, which creates less plant losses.
As well as the P9’s and plugs we also produce some plants in a 1 litre pot, which can be sent with a colour label (if required) that can then go for direct sales (as opposed to being grown on).

We are also looking at trying to reduce plastic waste by using re-usable trays and also using trolley jackets instead of plastic wrapping.
